Peshawar:
The Superior Court of Peshawar (PHC) has issued a notice to the National Database and the Registration Authority (NADRA) and requested an answer within 14 days in a writing request that challenges the blockade of computerized national identity cards (CNIC) of an entire family and the refusal to issue form B for their children.
A bank comprised of Judge Ejaz Anwar and Judge Waqar Ahmad heard the request presented by Taj Bibi and his family.
On behalf of the petitioners, lawyer Malik Shehbaz Khan informed the court that Taj Bibi and his four children are Pakistani citizens.
He explained that when his son, Muhammad Ullah, requested a CNIC, they told him that his father Sher Rehman had been blocked, which prevented the issuance of his identity card.
Later, Sher Rehman’s CNIC was reactivated, and Muhammad Ullah received his CNIC in 2018. However, when Taj Bibi recently requested the renewal of his CNIC, she was informed that not only the CNIC of her husband Sher Rehman, but the CNics of the whole family had been blocked.
