Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) launched an investigation after a flight, PK 306, which travels from Karachi to Lahore, landed at the International Airport of Allama Iqbal without one of its wheels.

A PIA spokesman declared that the problem was discovered during an inspection after the flight landing at the airport, revealing that one of the rear tires was missing.

The sources revealed that despite spending more than 14 hours since the arrival of the flight, the missing tire has not been found in the airports of Karachi or Lahore.

The reports indicate that the tire was present when the plane took off from Karachi, and the aircraft made a normal landing and was imposed at the Lahore airport.

After receiving a notification of Air Traffic Control (ATC) from Lahore, a part of the tire axis was at the Karachi airport.

According to a statement published by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), preliminary observations suggest that the incident may have occurred due to a possible external object that hits the track in Karachi.

In a statement, a PIA spokesman confirmed that after Karachi’s flight he landed in Lahore, it was discovered that one of the wheels was missing. The PIA flight security department, together with CAA, immediately initiated an investigation into the matter.

The statement also added that, although the final report will reveal the cause of the incident, the initial findings indicate that the wheel could have been affected due to a fault on the track or some other external factor.

However, the plane made a soft and safe landing in Lahore, and the design of the plane ensures that such an incident does not compromise aviation security.

A PIA team was sent to Lahore to investigate the landing without wheels. The security and aviation authorities have also begun their investigation into the incident.
