Rawalpindi:
The first phase of the Saddar Underground beautification and beautification project has been completed and the second phase is now planning.
A request for financing from RS1.5 billion has been submitted to the Department of Military Lands and Cantonos (MLCD) and the Ministry of Defense for approval.
According to the sources, the Cantonment Board of Rawalpindi (RCB) has been executing the project in two phases during the past year to transform the entire Saddar commercial area.
The first phase, completed at a cost of RS1.2 billion, has turned Bank Road into a European pedestrian street, attracting significant public attention.
The area now has an improved cleaning, decorative tiles, elegant seat banks, modern lighting, large paths, signaling of uniform stores, executive baths, model food kiosks and a free electricity transport service.
The second phase, which is estimated to cost RS1.5 billion, will extend the work of electrification and underground beautification to Adamjee Road, Cashmir adjacent markets.
The planning has been completed under the supervision of former RCB Chief Engineer Abdul Rahim Sheikh and Senior Engineer Abdul Samad Khan.
However, due to the extensive coverage area, it is expected that phase two will take more than a year to complete, although efforts will be made to minimize the timeline.
The RCB spokesman, Rasheed Saqib, declared that the work in phase two will begin as soon as the funds are approved and disbursed.
The request for financing of RS1.5 billion has been sent to MLCD, which will process it even more through the Ministry of Defense and the Punjab government.
Once completed, this phase will raise the facades of commercial buildings in Saddar, giving the area a modernized aspect with improved facilities.
In addition, plans are being made for underground pedestrian crossings in TM Chowk and Mall Plaza Chowk, a fish -of -signs of signs in Shalimar Chowk, and an underground pedestrian street between the fans and medicine market.
This project, with an estimated cost of RS4.38 billion, is already in progress and is expected to be completed within three to four months.
