RAWALPINDI:
The Municipal Corporation added a new public park for the citizens of Rawalpindi. The construction work of the public park, established on 35 kanals of land for Rs 120 million, has entered its final stage. The cost is expected to rise by another Rs 30-40 million as construction progresses.
A total of 35 kanals of government land in Sector 3 of Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, earlier occupied by various people, have been recovered. With the help of MNA Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, the Punjab government has allocated Rs 120 million in funds for the development of a public park on this land. The construction work of the park began under the supervision of municipal director Imran Ali.
The park features a walking track, grass terrain, children’s swings, play area, outdoor gym, lighting, toilets, seating area and benches. Beautiful flower beds and plants will also be planted.
The installation of the park fence and gate has now been completed. In addition, lighting has been provided both inside and outside the park. Once the construction works are completed, the park will be handed over to the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) following an opening ceremony.
Director Imran Ali stated that the construction work of the park is progressing rapidly and has entered its final stage. “The park will be opened to the public after an inauguration ceremony in the new year. Apart from paving the roads leading to Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, trees are being planted and lighting is being fixed,” he said.
Morning and afternoon walks in the park have begun. According to Imran Ali, local residents have expressed their joy over the construction of the park.
