Pittsburgh’s pirates made a change to the helm on Thursday, reliabing Derek Shelton of their management more than a month in a chaotic season.
The pirates fell to 12-26 after a defeat of a race against the Cardinals of San Luis on Wednesday. The main office decided to make a movement.

“Derek worked incredibly hard and sacrificed much more than five years. His family became a large part of the Pirates family, and we will lose it,” said the general manager of the pirates, Ben Cherington, in a statement. “He is an incredibly intelligent, curious and motivated baseball leader. I think he was the right person for work when he was hired. I also believe that a change is now necessary. I wish Derek and his family the best in his next chapter.”
The pirate banking coach, Don Kelly, was appointed as Shelton replacement.
“Derek is a good man who did a lot for pirates and Pittsburgh, but it was time for a change,” said the president of the Pirates, Bob Nutting. “The first quarter of the season has been frustrating and painful for all of us. We have to do better. I know it. Ben knows. Our coaches know it. Our players know it.
“There is a lot of baseball to play. We need to act with a sense of urgency and take the necessary steps to solve this now to return to the track as a team and organization.”

Shelton assumed the position of manager in 2020. He had 306-440 and never won more than 76 games.
It has been a rock year of the jump for the pirates.
The organization took a lot of drills to eliminate a tribute to Roberto Clemente in the right garden at the beginning of last month. The team was pushed again at the center of attention when a fan fell from the right field site on the warning track last week.
Then, the organization disciplined a worker who fought with an instigator before a game. A video of that altercation appeared earlier this week.

The season is still in their childhood and the pirates have the players to change the year.
