Islamabad:
While global efforts to combat environmental pollution intensify, the picturesque tourist destination of Patria in Murree is experiencing a growing environmental degradation due to the unbridled use of plastic shopping bags and general garbage.
The provincial campaign “Clean Punjab” has won broad public support, however, the condition of the Tellesilla and the Public Park, administered by the Punjab Tourism Development Corporation (TDCP), continues to deteriorate.
Tourists and residents have expressed disappointment for the unhealthy environment. A citizen, Zahid Khan, said that the TDCP, despite receiving a considerable budget and won millions in the sale of tickets, has failed to maintain basic cleaning standards, causing significant inconveniences for visitors. Another citizen said that the accumulation of garbage and plastic waste has led to skin and respiratory problems among the locals.
The TDCP director told The Express PAkGazette that Cortes Cleaning and Behavior are key to the success of any tourist destination.
