Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced Monday that the scope of digital wallets would be expanded throughout the country, integrating provincial systems in a national framework for digital payments.

Speaking in a ceremony for people with outstanding contributions to the success of the Ramazan aid package of the Prime Minister, the Prime Minister declared that modern payment methods had significantly improved the transparency and efficiency of fund transfers, while maintaining the dignity of the beneficiaries.

“Through digital wallets, 79% of the funds in the aid program were transferred without problems and transparently,” said the prime minister, highlighting that the previous system had significant defects that have now been addressed with the new digital framework.

He described the plans to ensure that next year, all disbursements would be made digitally, achieving 100% of the use of funds through modern payment systems. In addition, he pointed out that the initiative would continue to evolve with the provincial governments that are taken to the Integrated Digital Payment System.

The secretary of the Benazir Income Support Program, Amir Ahmed Ali, provided detailed information on the Ramazan aid package and the use of digital wallets. The prime minister also presented fees to key officials of public and private sectors who performed fundamental roles in the implementation of the program.
