Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned on Sunday the murder of civilians and protesters unarmed in Bagh Maidan, Wadi Tirah, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, qualifying him as an “atrocious act” and reaffirming his government’s resolution to eliminate terrorism.
According to initial reports, at least five people died and more than 17 were injured in the attack. However, the KP government has not yet confirmed the figures.
The prime minister’s office said in a statement that Prime Minister Shehbaz had ordered immediate medical assistance for the wounded and condemned the dismissal of terrorists, called Khawarij, aimed at peaceful citizens.

“The nefarious designs of terrorists cannot shake our resolution,” said Prime Minister, reiterating his commitment to see the fight against terrorism until his logical conclusion.
KP’s Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur also expressed his pain for the tragedy and announced financial compensation of RS10 million for the family of each victim and RS2.5m for the injured.
He has summoned a Jirga of tribal elders and public representatives to Peshawar to listen to his concerns and strengthen ties between the government and local communities.
Gandapur also ordered district officials to increase commitment to residents and maintain peace and order. He said that Jirgas will be carried out at the division and provincial level from next week to address public problems more effectively.
Separately, Inspector General Frontier Corps (North) visited the injured at the FC Brigade Hospital, while Major General Rao Imran Sartaj met with survivors at the Teaching Hospital of the Frontier Corps. The injured reported the incident and thanked the FC and the Army teams for free and timely medical care.
