‘Pm deliberately delaying the appointment with CEC’

Islamabad:

The PTI has demanded immediate initiation of the process for the appointment of a new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). He states that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is deliberately delayed the process despite the fact that the term of the headline, Sikandar Sultan Raja, has expired two months ago.

PTI’s Central Information Secretary Shafi Jan, on Thursday a statement that requires the government to initiate the process without further delay.

He said that the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) is a constitutional institution and the appointment of its new boss is crucial. However, the prime minister and his allies are determined to violate and disrespect the Constitution.

He said that the process of designating the CEC must be completed under article 213.

Jan said that the prime minister has not yet communicated with the opposition leader on this matter despite the fact that the opposition leader of the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, has already written a letter to the President of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq to occupy the key position.

“There has not yet a response to the demand for the formation of a parliamentary committee. The delay in this process clearly exposes the intentions of the prime minister and his allies.”

He said the government wants to retain “a puppet and puppet.”

“The Government seeks to meet its malicious objectives through the current CEC. We demand that the illegitimate prime minister begin the process of appointing a new CEC. Otherwise, we will take the matter to the courts,” the statement added.
