LAHORE:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and a judge of the District Court exchanged greetings about the reported victory of Pakistan in the conflict with India during the procedures of a defamation claim presented by the prime minister against Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), the founding president Imran Khan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz appeared before the Court through the video link for the hearing of the RS10 billion defamation case, which accuses Imran Khan of matching his image through public accusations of offering a bribe to withdraw the case of the Panama papers.
At the beginning of the hearing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated those present in the Court Chamber for what he described as Pakistan’s success in the conflict.
The President Judge corresponded to the greeting, recognizing the reported development. Imran Khan’s lawyer also commented on the situation, qualifying her as a national victory.
During the interrogation, Imran Khan’s lawyer raised a series of questions to the prime minister.
When asked if the accusations were made in writing, the prime minister replied that the statements were made repeatedly in the television channels.
In response to whether he had ever made similar accusations without evidence, the prime minister declared that he had never made statements without foundation.
The court postponed the hearing until June 2 to obtain more procedures.
