Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the textile sector of Pakistan for achieving a record of $ 13,613 billion (approximately 3,793 billion) in exports during the first nine months of the current fiscal year, an increase of 9.38% compared to the same period last year.
According to data from the Pakistan Statistics Office (PBS), this growth underlines the resistance of the textile industry and its continuous role as the spine of the country’s export economy.
The prime minister praised both the government’s economic policies and the tireless efforts of the private sector to promote this progress.
March 2025 only registered $ 2.64 billion (approximately RS737 billion) in general exports, a monthly and annual increase.
Textile exports during the month increased by 6.27%, highlighting a positive impulse in commercial performance.
The key export categories included knit garments, readmadicated garments, bedding and cotton fabric, reaffirming Pakistan’s competitive advantage in global textile markets.
In a statement, Prime Minister Sharif said: “This remarkable achievement reflects the effectiveness of our economic strategy and the dedication of our industrial interested parties. The Government remains committed to building a friendly business environment, encouraging investment and maintaining export growth.”
He added that the continuous increase in exports and other positive indicators is the result of a close collaboration of the sector-private sector. “Our goal is to establish a sustainable growth model that guarantees constant economic progress and creates jobs,” he said.
Total exports from July 2024 to March 2025 were $ 24.7 billion (approximately RS6,892 billion), 7.82% more interannual, indicating more economic recovery and export diversification.
