The signals of a possible thaw in the tense political scenario of the country emerged on Saturday when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended an offer for a dialogue to the Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI). In a brief but significant exchange during a session of the National Assembly, the president of the PTI, the lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, responded with a response of a hopeful word: "Inshallah". According to parliamentary sources, the informal conversation took place during NA’s session when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approached lawyer Gohar, shake his hand and initiated a direct conversation.
"Let’s sit and talk. Dialogue is the only solution to our problems," The prime minister was summoned by saying. "I said it before, and I say it again: we should talk."
Barrimer Gohar, in response, kept it short but positive: "Inshallah". The sources indicate that this exchange took place shortly before a critical decision with respect to the reserved seats, which has become a focal point in the current political confrontation. While the meeting was informal of tone, it is considered in political circles as a serious and significant development. It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Prime Minister Shehbaz has indicated the opening to the conversations. In a speech before the National Assembly, he had declared, "For the good of the country, all parties must join and speak. Political differences can and should be resolved through dialogue."
After Saturday’s brief interaction, journalists sought a formal comment from BarrĂster Gohar outside the NA, but refused to respond. However, PTI experts confirmed that Prime Minister’s offer will be transmitted to the founder of the Imran Khan party, who is still the key decision maker about whether the party will proceed with negotiations.
