PM launches the RS20B Ramazan package

Islamabad:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched on Saturday the RS20 billion package for four million deserving families throughout the country, benefiting approximately 20 million people.

When addressing the launch ceremony, the prime minister said that a total of four million deserving families that include around two million people would obtain relief of this package that would be distributed in the first ten days of the Holy Month.

Each family through digital wallets would get RS5,000, he said, expressing his satisfaction that the price increase had been reduced this year compared to the previous figures during Ramazan.

“This year, an amount of RS20 billion has been assigned for that purpose. The amount of relief last year was RS7 billion,” he added.

The prime minister also praised all relevant authorities and institutions, including the ministries, the State Bank of Pakistan, Nadra, Bisp and the technology companies that worked day and night to design a digital mechanism. The Federal Government’s initiative would benefit all parts of the country through a well -developed digital system, he added.

He also expressed his gratitude to foreign partners for their association and support in this noble cause and appreciated their commitment and valuable contributions.

The prime minister said that billions of rupees of the poor nation had been trapped in litigation for years and expressed the resolution of the Government to make expeditious decisions in more than 500 billion cases waiting for the award in several courts. He said corruption was being treated with iron.

During the mandate of their previous interim government, the banks had obtained unexpected profits for the fluctuation of the tariffs in dollars and received orders to suspend the court when the government introduced a legislation in this regard.

Referring to a decision of the recent Superior Court of Sindh, he said that RS23 billion recovered from the elimination of a stay case.

The prime minister described corruption in the corporation of public service stores ‘worse’ and said he was being privatized, finishing public agonies with a very proactive digital system like the one he just launched.

He also reiterated to close the entities of another government that have losses. The prime minister expressed his deep pain for a terrorist attack against Maulana Hamidul Haq in Madrassa Haqqania in which Maulana Haq had embraced martyrdom.

He said Madrassa Haqqania was a renowned Center for Islamic Studies, and yesterday’s terrorist incident was heartbreaking and very condemnable.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government would immediately lead the perpetrators to reserve, he said, adding that in 2018, terrorism was eliminated from the country, and in that fight around 80,000 Pakistani had established their lives, including officers and Jawans of security forces and all segments of society.

Unfortunately, he said that the spectrum raised his head in recent times and everyone knew the reasons. With the unmatched sacrifices of the security forces and support of the nation, they would eliminate terrorism forever and would not rest until its complete eradication, he added.

The Minister of Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, in her comments, said that the program was sanctioned in twenty days in which all relevant authorities played an important role, which allows them to launch the initiative in the Holy Month.

He said that the infallible mechanism would ensure a rapid transfer of an amount to 4 million deserving families throughout the country.

In addition, a total of 600 positions at Tehsil level were established to provide sugar at a subsidized price of RS130 Kg.
