Islamabad:
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated on Friday the newly built Jinnah Square Murree Road Subpasado, an important infrastructure project completed in a record time of only 35 days. The prime minister praised him as a significant initiative at the national level that will guarantee soft and uninterrupted connectivity with the popular tourist destination of Murree.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised the dedicated efforts of the Minister of the Interior, Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, the president of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the inspector general of Islamabad of the Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi Police and its teams to complete the project.
“The completion of this underground step in just over a month marks a milestone in our national infrastructure development,” said Prime Minister. “It complements our broader vision of a corridor without signals from Islamabad International Airport to Murree, relieving traffic congestion and improving travel time for travelers.”
He instructed the administration of the Federal Capital and the CDA to continue working with greater efficiency and devotion to make Islamabad more beautiful and well organized.
With approximately 479 meters, the underground step has three traffic lanes designed to facilitate the softer traffic flow. The project is part of a connectivity corridor of almost nine kilometers that, according to the Prime Minister, will benefit not only the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, but also to travelers throughout the country who are heading towards Murree.
When reflecting on the project timeline, the prime minister said that only 35 days ago, he had put the foundation stone for the underground passage, which has now been completed, including the associated road works and landscaping. He praised the contractor, consultants and all the officials involved and urged the Interior Minister to maintain this impulse for future development initiatives.
In a separate speech during the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated La Nación for the armed forces of the strategic and brave response of Pakistan who, in his words, treated an “overwhelming defeat” to the Indian forces. “This achievement reflects the unity of the nation and the blessings of the Almighty Allah,” he said.
Previously, Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi informed the prime minister about the technical details of the project and praised the collective efforts of the CDA, the Islamabad and Nespak police. He also revealed that the design work for the underground step of Shaheen Chowk is underway, along with the plans for a new Safari park and a telesilla project.
The inauguration was attended by federal ministers Hanif Abbasi and Dr. Tariq Fazl Chaudhary, Ministers of the State of Chaudhary and Talha Burki, and other parliamentarians.
