PM orders consult after a mass salary increase for the president of NA, president of the Senate

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif realized and ordered an investigation after a massive salary increase for the president of the National Assembly and Deputy President, as well as the president of the Senate and Vice President. A significant salary walk has caused a violent reaction, causing strong criticism of political and public circles.

Their salaries have increased by 600%unprecedented, from RS205,000 to an amazing RS1.95 million. The decision to increase wages and advantages for these high -ranking officials was approved by the Federal Government, and the prime minister’s office now investigated the matter after the public reaction.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif condemned the increase, describing it as “financial vulgarity” and emphasizing that such increases were insensitive to the struggles of the common man. “We must remember that our dignity and honor depend on the well -being of people,” he added.

In response to criticism, the Secretariat of the National Assembly and the Senate clarified that these salary increases were not self -imposed by the officials in question, but were approved by the federal government.

Sources of the Secretariat pointed out that neither the president of NA nor the president of the Senate could unilaterally increase their salaries, such changes require the consent of the prime minister and the cabinet.

To further complicate the problem, on May 29, a government notification was published detailing the salaries and assignments reviewed, including a 50% increase in discretionary assignments. According to the notification, the federal government gave approval for the increase in wages.

On the other hand, the recent budget presented by the Government shows an increase in the salaries of parliamentarians and the federal cabinet compared to last year.

According to the budget documents, proposals have been made to assign RS16.29 billion for the National Assembly and RS9.05 billion for the Senate.

From this, RS5.08 billion are assigned for the salaries and advantages of the members of the National Assembly, RS2.58 billion for their salaries, RS2.50 billion for travel expenses and RS2.17 billion for the salary and advantages budget.

In addition, RS1.24 billion are proposed for the advantages of the presidents of the Committee, and RS393.4 million for the salaries and advantages of NA President and Deputy President.

In addition, RS83.4 million are proposed for the salaries and advantages of the opposition leader and its staff. For Senate members, RS40 million are assigned for wages and RS106.38 million for their advantages.

The salaries and benefits of the president of the Senate, the vice president and his staff will be assigned RS18.96 million, while the salaries and advantages for the presidents of the Senate Committee will be assigned RS144.33 million.

The government budget proposal also includes a duplication of the continuous expenses of the cabinet. It is proposed that the budget for salaries and benefits of cabinet members will rise from RS35.18 million to RS68.87 million.

It is proposed that the Budget for Federal Ministers and State Ministers will rise from RS27 million to RS50.54 million. It is proposed that the budget for the salaries and advantages of the prime minister’s advisors increase from RS3.61 million to RS6.31 million, while the budget for wages and the advantages of the special attendees of the Prime Minister increases from RS3.70 million to RS11.34 million.

According to the amended law for members of Parliament in July 2024, their advantages will include 30 air tickets per year (which can be transferred to the next year if they do not use and can be used by their families).

In addition, they will receive subsidies to attend the National Assembly, the Senate and the joint sessions three days before and three days after the sessions, as well as to attend the meetings of the position and the special committee two days and two days later.

They will also receive approximately RS9,600 per day for additional expenses, RS8,000 for office expenses, RS10,000 for telephone bills and RS25 per kilometer for vehicle expenses.

In addition, RS2,000 will be provided for house for rent of the house, living room trips in trains and other assignments. The current and previous parliamentarians will be entitled to the same health and other facilities as the federal secretaries.

If a parliamentarian becomes president of the Committee, it will receive additional RS25,000 per month, along with 360 liters of gasoline, four employees and a vehicle that varies from 1,200 to 1,800cc, as well as an office.
