PM praises ministers, tax recovery officials


Islamabad:

Upon his return from Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday presided over a meeting on the performance of the Federal Income Board (FBR).

He appreciated the ministers and officers for the recent recovery of RS34.5 billion per FBR. I specially commended minister for law and justice azam Nazeer tarar, minister for finance muhammad aungzeb, minister for economic affairs ahad khan cheema, minister for information and broadcasting attaullah tarar, Advis to Prime Minister Syed Tauqir Shah, Attorney General Mansoor Awan Awan Ullah Bosal, Secretary Information Ambreen Jan, Chairman Fbr Arshad Mehmood Langial, general director of the Fawad Asadullah Khan Intelligence Office, general director Fia Jan Muhammad and officers concerned about the steps taken for this historical recovery.

He said he and the whole nation thanked them for obtaining a benefit of RS34.5 billion for the National Treasury.

The recovery of the amount within 24 hours after the decision was commendable, he said that adding these best results shows that if there was hard work and dedication, then the success was attainable.

He said it was a historical achievement that was only possible due to a working team.

The recovery of RS34.5 billion was a good start and this was only the beginning of the trip, he added.

“We have to form a sustainable system permanently,” he said, added: “We have to solve decades of problems working together.”

While appreciating President FBR, he said that a comprehensive legal structure for FBR recoveries should be formed permanently.

He directed a plan to guarantee FBR reforms and the implementation of tax laws.

The prime minister said that a plan for the improvement of FBB’s labor should also be prepared.

The system could be improved with 100 percent digitalization, third -party validation and continuous monitoring, he said.

He said that a complete action against those officers and personnel who were involved in any type of misappropriation should be initiated.

The stimulus of the officers and the personnel who worked well must ensure, continued.

He said: “If we have to change Pakistan’s fate, then we have to bring changes in the system permanently.”

“We will make all the efforts to save every penny of the people,” he said.

During the meeting, the prime minister was informed about the pending cases in the courts with respect to taxes and the steps taken by the government team for the recovery of money through these cases.

President FBR informed the Prime Minister on the reforms of the FBR Law Directorate, a digital algorithm for fiscal evaluation, the performance of fiscal officers and the general reforms of FBR.
