PM reaffirms the safety of Chinese nationals as a priority

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated on Tuesday that the protection of Chinese citizens in Pakistan remains a priority for the government, underlining its importance in the context of the economic future and the country’s bilateral cooperation with China.

By chairing a high -level meeting on security arrangements for Chinese citizens, the prime minister said that creating a safe and friendly business environment was essential to maintain the confidence of Chinese companies operating in Pakistan.

“The trust of Chinese companies in the Pakistani economy is extremely important for our economic future,” he said.

He highlighted the continuous efforts to reinforce security for Chinese citizens throughout the country, even in the Federal Capital, citing projects by City Safe as a key component of this strategy.

These surveillance and response systems were being implemented throughout the country according to international standards.

“China is our friendly country, and the security of our Chinese brothers is our greatest responsibility,” said Prime Minister Shehbaz, and pointed out that China-Pakistan’s economic corridor (CPEC) had entered its second phase, focused on the collaboration of company to company, further increasing the importance of safe conditions for Chinese citizens.

In view of this, the Premier ordered the authorities to take special measures in all airports to facilitate the arrival and exit of Chinese citizens. He also requested the inclusion of standard city surveillance systems in all the next housing projects.

During the informative session, the Interior Minister and the senior officials updated the Prime Minister on security protocols in their place, highlighting that special arrangements had been made throughout the country in the light of possible security threats.

Currently, Chinese citizens receive security escort services to travel, the meeting was reported. Federal and provincial governments are working in coordination in these measures, added the informative session, noting that the projects of the safe city were expanding in multiple urban centers.

The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar, the Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, special assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and other senior officials.
