PM says that the blue economy is the next Pakistan border


Islamabad:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday requested a unified national effort and greater collaboration between the public and private sectors to transform the maritime sector into a catalyst for inclusive growth and unlock its vast potential.

When heading to the soft launch ceremony of the Second International Maritime Expo of Pakistan and the Conference (PIMEC) -2025, the prime minister exposed the vision of transforming Pakistan into a regional maritime power, declaring the “blue economy” as the “new economic border” of Pakistan.

With more than 1,000 kilometers of coast and a position at the crossroads of vital marine lanes, said Prime Minister, Pakistan was in a unique position to take advantage of the blue economy of billion dollars worldwide. “Even touching a fraction of this economy could be a real change of play,” he said.

“Our coastal trade already contributes almost $ 7 billion a year and imagines the potential if we completely develop this sector,” he said. He praised the Navy of Pakistan and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs for its strategic forecast and dedication in the direction of this important initiative.

On the occasion, Maritime Affairs Minister Muhammad Junaid, Anwar Chaudhry, described the government’s strategic roadmap for the maritime sector. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to build a vibrant blue economy and introduced the “maritime vision in 100”.

He explained that the “Maritime in 100” was a long -term plan to turn this sector into an economic force of $ 100 billion by 2047. “The oceans are not just bodies of water, they are economic lines. Pakistan must be positioned as a regional maritime center,” he said.

Assistant Head of the Naval Personnel Ahsan Ali Khan emphasized the vast economic potential of the oceans. He pointed out that the oceans were increasingly exploited by tourism, renewable energy, aquaculture and the extraction of valuable resources such as hydrocarbons and minerals.

Meanwhile, speaking with the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam during the Pimec-2025, the prime minister discussed the current regional situation, according to the prime minister’s office media wing, a press release.

Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s conviction for the recent Israeli aggression against Iran and expressed the sympathies of the nation with the fraternal neighbor about the martyrdom of his innocent civilians.

The prime minister reiterated the solidarity of Pakistan with Iran and his people during this high voltage time. He called Israeli attacks to Iran a complete violation of the UN Charter and international laws.

Referring to his recent telephone conversation with Iranian President, Dr. Masoud fishshkian, the prime minister said Pakistan supported Iran at the United Nations Security Council Meeting (UNSC), added the press release.
