PM Shehbaz directs the use of the Ramadan relief package model in future schemes

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised on Friday the effective and transparent execution of the Ramadán 2025 help package, ordering the authorities to adopt this model for future government schemes.

The prime minister presided over a meeting to evaluate the implementation of the package, recognizing the contributions of the central team of the government and support institutions.

Under Ramadan’s help package, a digital wallet was introduced for the first time, ensuring the transparent and efficient distribution of funds to the beneficiaries.

The initiative was implemented throughout the country, even in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmira. The Premier praised institutions such as the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) and the National Data and Registration Authority (NADRA) to guarantee the transparency of the process.

The meeting also discussed the complaints received during the implementation of the package, with an focus on incorporating comments in future planning. It was reported that 79% of the funds assigned had been distributed to the beneficiaries.

A total of 2,224 employees were deployed to handle the distribution, while urgent measures were taken to resolve 1,273 complaints.

In addition, a wide range awareness campaign was carried out through robocalls, outgoing calls, SMS messages and call center operations. This dissemination effort included 6.2 million Robocalls, 178,700 output calls and 6.1 million SMS messages.

In total, 1.9 million digital payments were made, with 951,191 digital wallets used, marking a key step towards Pakistan’s vision of becoming a digital nation. The program also reached 823,653 women and 2,541 people with disabilities.

The meeting was attended by several federal ministers, including Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Ahad Khan Chema, Ataullah Tarar and Shaza Fatima Khawaja, along with a special assistant of Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar, the governor of the state bank Jameel Ahmad, and the officials of relevant private companies.
