PM Shehbaz, Munir Marshal Visit Flood-Hit KP, ensures full support for victims

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Marshal Munir also visited districts affected by Swat, Buner, Shangla and Swabi on Wednesday, promising that each available national resource would be mobilized to accelerate recovery and restore normality.

According to the prime minister’s office, Field Prime Minister and Marshal He received comprehensive information on rescue and relief operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Federal ministers and senior officials also joined the visit.

During his interaction with the survivors, Shehbaz assured the victims of unwavering support from the Federal Government and the Pakistan army. “We will extend maximum assistance in this critical hour,” he said, while we appreciate the “tireless dedication” of the Armed Forces and the Civil Administration.

Premier also caught attention to illegal invasions, wood smuggling and mining to worsen the disaster. He stressed that Pakistan “must act as a hard state where no one is above the law” and directed the action against the offenders.

The prime minister said that more than 350 people had been killed only in KP, while the casualties throughout the country exceeded 700. The prime minister disbursed the help controls among the victims and announced seven days of free electricity for the affected homes. He also ordered the immediate repair of the damaged road infrastructure, regardless of whether it fell under provincial or federal jurisdiction.

“Hotels and houses built on river roads increase the impact of floods,” Shehbaz warned, asking for more strict policies to prevent illegal construction and protect natural water channels. He also urged forest preservation, noting that deforestation was a factor behind the destructive bubbles of clouds.

Remembering the floods of 2022, Shehbaz said that hundreds of thousands of acres of crops were destroyed and houses dragged into Sindh, which caused RS100 billion in federal aid. “Today, with the support of all interested parties, the government is totally committed to face this new challenge,” he said.

The prime minister emphasized that there should be no policy in times of crisis. He praised the Prime Minister of KP, Ali Amin, the Armed Forces and the Civil Administration for their help efforts. He also praised the support of the Munir Marshal, “under whose cooperation the government strives to stabilize the economy.”

Shehbaz said Pakistan is among the 10 countries most vulnerable to the climate of the world, and added that climate change, deforestation and developmentless development have amplified the scale of natural disasters.

The field marshal also interacted with troops, the police and civil personnel involved in help efforts, praising their “selfless commitment” and directing the formations that “do not devote any effort to relieve the difficulties of collapsed families.”
