Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday praised US President Donald Trump for his “relentless and tireless” efforts to end global conflicts, including the war in Gaza.

At a press conference alongside Trump, who thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz and his “favorite quarterback of Pakistan,” the prime minister called the Gaza peace deal “one of the best days in contemporary history.”

Trump and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, co-hosted the peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, where Egypt, Qatar and Turkey signed a document on the Gaza ceasefire agreement with the US president.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said peace was achieved in the region after Trump worked “relentlessly and tirelessly” in recent months.

The prime minister said Pakistan had earlier nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his “outstanding and extraordinary contributions” to stopping a possible war between India and Pakistan and securing a ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed nations.

“Today, again, I would like to nominate this great president for the Nobel Peace Prize because I truly feel that he is the most deserving candidate,” Shehbaz said. “He has brought peace not only to South Asia, saving millions of lives, but also to the Middle East through his efforts in Gaza.”

Shehbaz praised Trump as “the man the world needs most right now,” adding that history will remember him as the leader who “stopped seven and today eight wars.”

He also expressed his gratitude to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his role in supporting peace efforts in the region.

“If it had not been for this man [Trump]”, Shehbaz said, “a full-scale war could have broken out between two nuclear powers. “His timely intervention prevented the catastrophe.”

The prime minister concluded by saying that Trump’s “visionary and exemplary leadership” had made him a symbol of hope and peace for the world, and that his name “will be remembered with golden words.”

Moved by Prime Minister Shehbaz’s words, the American president said he did not expect so much praise for his efforts for peace in the region.

Before his media talk with Trump, Prime Minister Shehbaz held a series of meetings with world leaders.

The prime minister met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa also joined the conversation, reflecting the spirit of regional unity and shared commitment to peace.

During the meeting, President Abbas expressed his deep gratitude to Pakistan for its constant support to the Palestinian people and its steadfast advocacy on political and diplomatic fronts.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also met with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, with the three leaders expressing satisfaction over the recent ceasefire in Gaza.

The prime minister also held talks with world leaders, including King Abdullah II of Jordan, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Spanish parliamentarian Pedro Sánchez, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
