PM Shehbaz promises to eradicate Pakistan’s terrorism

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has promised to completely eradicate Pakistan’s terrorism, stating that the nation “will bury this curse forever” and avoid its resurgence.

In a speech in an event in Islamabad on Saturday, he declared that the Government would take decisive measures to eliminate terrorism from the country.

Referring to the tragic suicide bombing in Akora Khattak, which led to the martyrdom of Mulana Hamidul Haq and several other Pakistani, Prime Minister Sharif condemned the attack, describing it from a deeply sad incident.

He stressed that the Jamia, where Islamic and modern education is provided, produced true Pakistani. While expressing the pain of the nation for the attack, he urged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s government to quickly arrest the perpetrators and make sure they face justice.

The prime minister further reflected on the progress of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism, stating that by 2018, the country had largely eradicated terrorism, with more than 80,000 Pakistani who had established their lives for peace and recognized the sacrifices made by the armed forces, the police and the agencies of application of the law.

However, he pointed out that terrorism had resurfaced, although he decided not to deepen the causes at that time. He reiterated that the Armed Forces would play a fundamental role in the eradication of this threat, ensuring that it is eliminated completely and permanently.

In the Financial Front, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the compilation of pending income of billions of rupees owed to the State of Pakistan, since he mentioned that in 2022 and 2023, when the dollar shot, the banks had obtained unexpected profits, and the government had imposed an unexpected profit tax on them. Despite this, the banks had obtained an order of stay.

However, he praised the efforts of the Governor of the State Bank, who, after the Sindh Superior Court lifted the stay order, managed to withdraw RS23 billion of banks and deposit it in the National Treasury.

Announcement of the RS20 billion package

In his speech, Prime Minister Sharif also announced a substantial package of RS20 billion Ramadan for the poor, with the aim of providing relief during the holy month.

He explained that this year, the Government had assigned RS20 billion, benefiting 4 million families throughout Pakistan. The package marks an increase of almost 200% compared to last year’s allocation of RS7 billion.

The prime minister emphasized that the Ramadan package would be implemented throughout the country, ensuring that Karachi deserving from Karachi to Gilgit, including those of Azad Jammu and Kashmira.

He praised the efforts of institutions such as the State Bank, Nadra and technology organizations to guarantee transparency and efficiency in the distribution process. He also expressed his gratitude to all the institutions involved in the delivery of the Ramadan relief to those in need.

Prime Minister Sharif also declared that the government was working to improve and privatize the public service store system, which had previously been plagued with corruption. This year, the beneficiaries of the Ramadan package would no longer have to wait in long lines. Instead, they would receive relief in a dignified way through digital wallets.

He said that the Ramadan package distribution would be closely monitored to guarantee transparency and equity.
