Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed to Turkiye on Tuesday for an official two -day visit at the invitation of Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s office, the prime minister is accompanied by the Vice Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs, ISHAQ Dar, Minister of Information and Transmission of Attaullah Tarar, and special assistant of the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to celebrate comprehensive discussions with President Erdogan on bilateral ties and regional developments. The commitment aims to even strengthen the long -standing strategic association between the two nations.
The ongoing visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Turkiye is produced following the visit of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Islamabad in February, where both leaders co -charted the seventh session of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC).
During the February session, Pakistan and Turkiye signed 24 comprehension memorandes (Mou), reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthen bilateral ties in multiple sectors. The highlight of the meeting was the agreement to increase bilateral trade to $ 5 billion.
The key areas of cooperation described in the agreements included an expansion of the Assets Trade Agreement (TGA), a greater collaboration in the defense sector and efforts to attract Turkish investments in Pakistan.
The two parties also agreed to operationalize the Islamabad-Tehran-Stambul trade corridor and deepen cooperation in areas such as energy, finance and digital trade.
