Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday urged Saudi Arabia and other friendly nations to encourage India to reduce tensions in southern Asia after Pahalgam’s recent attack.
During a meeting in Islamabad with Saudi ambassador Nawaf Bin Saeed al-Maliky, Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the region and condemned terrorism in all its forms.
“We reject the india -free accusations regarding the Pahalgam incident,” said Prime Minister, added that Pakistan supports a transparent and neutral international investigation on the April 22 attack that left 26 people dead in illegally occupied Indians illegally Jammu and Kashmir (Iiojk).
Sharif declared that Pakistan’s approach remains the maintenance of economic progress achieved in the last 15 months with the help of international partners, including Riyadh.
“It is inconceivable that Pakistan acts irresponsibly or endangers the economic achievements made with great effort,” he said.
The prime minister transmitted his warm greetings to the Saudi king Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and the heir prince Mohammad Bin Salman, thanking them for continuous support and solidarity with Pakistan.
Ambassador Al-Maliky welcomed the comments of the Prime Minister and affirmed the desire of Saudi Arabia to work in close collaboration with Pakistan for regional peace and security.
The comments occur in the midst of increasing tensions between Pakistan and India, with both countries exchanging diplomatic and strategic countermeasures after Pahalgam incident. India has blamed Pakistan for the attack, a claim denied by Islamabad.
