Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, thanked the Chinese Prime Minister, Li Qiang on Thursday, for supporting Islamabad’s call for a credible and transparent international investigation on the attack of April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir (Iiojk) of illegally occupied, which left 26 people dead.
The prime minister made the comments during a meeting with Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the office of the Prime Minister in Islamabad, where he also expressed his gratitude to China for his constant support in augmented regional tensions.
He transmitted his best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li, and appreciated Beijing’s understanding of Pakistan’s principles about the recent actions of India.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Saturday, described the attack of the pahalgama as another example of the ongoing guilt game, stating that Pakistan is open to any “neutral and transparent” investigation on the incident in Iiojk.
According to a statement from Prime Minister’s office, Sharif reiterated the unequivocal condemnation of Pakistan’s terrorism in all its forms. He pointed out that, as a first -line state in the global war against terror, Pakistan had sacrificed more than 90,000 lives and suffered economic losses greater than $ 152 billion in search of peace and security for the region and the world.
He warned that the recent aggressive position of India runs the risk of diverting the Pakistan approach to critical anti-terrorist operations against groups such as IS-KP, TTP and Bla, militant networks that operate from the Afghan territory.
Sharif also condemned what he called the “water aggression” of India, which describes the reported efforts of New Delhi to assemble water resources as a violation of the Indo Water Treaty. “No part has the right to unilaterally deviate from international agreements,” he said, qualifying such actions a serious violation of trust and a threat to regional stability.
The prime minister emphasized that a peaceful resolution of the JAMMU and Kashmir dispute is essential for lasting peace in southern Asia. “Without solving the problem of Kashmir, the region cannot achieve sustainable peace,” he added.
Ambassador Jiang thanked the prime minister for clearly describing Pakistan’s perspective and reiterated China’s support for peace and stability in southern Asia. He said Beijing shares Islamabad’s vision for a peaceful region and will continue to support Pakistan on all central themes.
