LAHORE:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Friday that the players of the National Cricket team were heroes, and the nation hoped they won the next Trophy Champions.
When addressing the opening ceremony of the avant -garde renewal of the Gaddafi Stadium, he expressed his joy for the end of the renewal of the stadium in 117 days.
He appreciated the president of the Cricket Board of Pakistan (PCB) and the Interior Minister, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, for supervising the construction of the stadium. He congratulated all PCB members and ordered the president to reward all the people involved in this significant achievement.
The prime minister commented that after “Shehbaz Speed”, it was now the moment of Mohsin’s speed. ” He also praised the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) for his role in the stadium increase gradation.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the National Cricket team for his recent performances and expressed hope that they would become champions of the next Champions Trophy. He also expressed his confidence that Pakistan would defeat India in the tournament, winning the hearts of 240 million Pakistani.
He stressed the importance of teamwork, not only in sports but also in the government. He said that financial stability in the country was the result of the collective efforts of his cabinet. Reflecting on the last eight months, he compared the economic crisis with the rapid pace of the Australian Bowling Player Dennis Lillee. However, he emphasized that his team of ministers remained firm, helping Pakistan out of financial difficulties.
The prime minister congratulated La Nación for organizing an important international sporting event in Pakistan after 29 years. He also thanked the main minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, for providing facilities to the construction team through the Punjab government.
The prime minister assured that the government would provide first level security arrangements for the parties, allowing Cricket fans to enjoy world -class Cricket.
He welcomed the consul general of the United States, Kristin Hawkins, at the ceremony and expressed his optimism that the US Cricket team would visit Pakistan soon for international matches.
Previously, the prime minister officially opened the renewed stadium. The president of PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, and the president of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, also went to the meeting.
The event was attended by the cm of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the federal ministers Attaullah Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazir Tarar, Rana Tanveer and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Punjab Assembly, Malik Muhammad Ahmad, provincial ministers, senior journalists and dignitary Assembly.
