PMD forecasts the first monsoon showers tomorrow

This year’s monsoon season will begin on Wednesday (tomorrow) bringing rain to several regions of the country, the forecast of the Pakistan Meteorology Department (PMD) on Monday, warning of possible sudden floods, urban flooding, landslides and other rain -related risks.

The weather department said that a strong wave of the West was expected to approach the northern regions on June 25 (tomorrow) and could be important for June 26, resulting in a great rainy activity in most provinces and territories.

At present, according to the PMD, the wet currents of the Arabic Sea and the Bengal Bay had already begun to penetrate the upper and central parts of Pakistan and would probably intensify in the next few days.

As a result, said the PMD, the rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms with scattered heavy, and sometimes very heavy, falls were expected from the night or night of June 24 to July 2 with occasional gaps in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltist (GB) and Punjab.

The first monsoon showers were expected in AJK in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhaanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur. Similarly, GB districts such as Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar could receive rain from June 26 to 29.

“Tourists and travelers are urged to plan their trips carefully to avoid adverse incidents during the period of intense weather activity. Interested authorities have been ordered to remain in maximum alert and take the necessary measures to protect life and property,” said the PMD.
