PMD issues fourth tropical cyclone alert over central-eastern Arabian Sea


The Pakistan Meteorological Department issued its fourth tropical cyclone warning after a depression developed over the east-central Arabian Sea, although it confirmed that there is currently no threat to any coastal areas of Pakistan.

According to the Tropical Cyclone Warning Center of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the weather system has moved north-northwestwards over the past 24 hours and was located near latitude 16.4°N and longitude 70.4°E, approximately 1,004 kilometers south-southeast of Karachi and about 400 kilometers southwest of Mumbai, India.

The department said the depression is expected to continue moving northwestward across the east-central Arabian Sea over the next 24 hours.

The PMD added that its Cyclone Warning Center in Karachi is closely monitoring the system and will continue to update relevant authorities, including the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and provincial administrations in Sindh and Balochistan.

Currently, the department emphasized that no coastal areas of Pakistan face any cyclone-related risk.
