Karachi:
A low pressure meteorological system on the Arabic sea of the Eastern Center has been formed at about 1,075 kilometers southeast of Karachi that could be intensified in a deep depression or even a cyclonic storm for the weekend, the Pakistan Meteorology Department (PMD) on Thursday said Thursday.
The PMD said the meteorological system was located southeast of Karachi and headed north.
He added that there was currently no threat to the coastal areas of Pakistan, but the Cyclone Warning Center (CWC) closely monitored the system.
Meteorologists said the warm temperatures of the sea surface were feeding the growth of the system.
It could evolve towards depression in the next 36 hours and, if favorable conditions persist, they could be further strengthened in a deep depression or even in a cyclonic storm for May 24 or 25, they added.
