The Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) warned Wednesday on strong rains and thunderstorms in several districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), issuing flood alerts for rivers and local currents in the midst of worrying of possible landslides in mountainous regions.
The alert was issued after the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that the province had registered the largest number of victims in rain -related incidents, followed by 21 deaths in Punjab since June 26.
At least 15 deaths in Sindh and five in Baluchistan were reported, which gave a national toll to 63 in a week. The showers early in the morning, accompanied by strong winds, whipped Peshawar and nearby areas, relieving the intense heat and turning the pleasant climate.
According to the PMD, it is likely that a new rainy system persists in the next few days. Thickery and heavy storms are expected in dir, swat, buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Battagram, Shangla and Kohistan. Similar climatic conditions for Torghar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kurram and Mohmand have been forecast.
Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Chitral, Khyber and Orakzai can also experience rain along with raccoked winds. The southern parts of the province, including Kohat, Hagu, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, have also been put on alert.
The PMD warned about possible floods in the Kabul, Swat and Panjkora rivers. Sudden floods in local currents are also afraid in Swabi, Mardan, Mansehra, Kohistan, Dir, Swat and Shangla. The authority also marked the risk of landslides in mountainous areas, which could alter the road links and represent safety risks for residents and travelers.
The temperatures recorded in KP during the current weather activity included 38 ° C in Peshawar, 42 ° C both in Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu, 39 ° C in Chitral and 29 ° C in Kalam. Malam Jabba remained the freshest, with a registered temperature of 25 ° C.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious and follow the weather notices issued by local authorities.
Monzón alert issued for Sindh
The PMD Early Warning Center has issued a monsoon alert for Sindh parts, warning that moderate Monzón currents have begun to enter the southeast districts.
According to the forecast, Karachi is expected to remain mainly cloudy and humid in the next three days, with possibilities of rain or drizzine during the night and early morning hours.
The rain, which extends from the light to the moderate one, is likely in Tharparkar, Uumerkot, Mirpurkhas and Sanghar between July 2 and July 4. The rain or drizzle can also occur in Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Tando Mohammad Khan, Dadu, Khairpur, Sukkur and Larkana.
