Islamabad:
The Department of Meteorology of Pakistan (PMD) has predicted a wet week for the upper and central regions of the country, driven by weak monzón currents that intensified on Monday (today), followed by the strengthening of a wave of the West on Tuesday (tomorrow).
According to the National PMD meteorarate forecasting center, windshowers wind and heavy falls are isolated in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are expected; Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Punjab and Islamabad until Thursday.
“More rains with the wind and the predicted wind tower in the next week,” he said. “The weak monsoon currents are continuously penetrating the country’s upper/central parts and it is likely to intensify from August 4. It is likely that a wave of the west will be strengthened on August 5.”
Under the influence of these climatic conditions, the PMD alert declared, the Rain/Thundershower wind with isolated heavy falls is expected in Neelum Valley, Muzaffrabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhaanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur in Ajk.
From August 5 to 7, the rain/storm wind with isolated heavy falls with occasional gaps is expected to be expected in Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar in GB, the forecasts of PMD.

The PMD warned that heavy rains can generate sudden floods in the local Nullahs of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, northeast of Punjab and Ajk.
He also warned about urban floods in low areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore and Sialkot during the week.
The PMD said that the prevailing climatic conditions increase the risk of flooding floods of glacial lake (Glof), sudden floods and landslides in vulnerable glacial regions of GB.
