PMDC directed to act against exorbitant university fees

ISLAMABAD:

The sub-committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Regulation and Coordination of National Health Services on Wednesday ordered the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to revoke the licenses of non-compliant private medical colleges.

The committee meeting, chaired by Senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan, discussed the high fees charged by medical colleges and the measures taken by the PMDC in this regard. The committee received complaints from students that private medical colleges charge high fees.

The committee conveyed these complaints to the Ministry of Health and recommended that the anonymity of the students be maintained. PMDC Chairman Dr Rizwan Taj informed the committee that recommendations for fee structure for the year 2024-25 had been sent to the government. The President stated that the PMDC should take action against private medical colleges that charge excessive fees.
