ISLAMABAD:
In a relief to postgraduate medical and dental students, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to register all admitted students and graduates before January 16, 2023, after obtaining their degrees.
This decision has effectively protected earlier batches from the stricter accreditation requirements introduced under the PMDC Act, 2022.
In its meeting held on January 7, 2026, the PMDC council decided that all cases of students and graduates who were admitted or completed their studies up to January 16, 2023, will be registered after obtaining their degree from the PMDC.
For students admitted after January 16, 2023, it will be mandatory that the degree awarding institution is recognized by the PMDC and the training center is accredited under Section 25 of the PMDC Act, 2022.
This relief is applicable to qualifications such as MS, MD, MDS, MPhil, PhD, FCPS, MCPS and various diploma programs obtained from universities and institutions of Pakistan and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP). The PMDC has directed all eligible candidates to complete the registration process as per the prescribed procedures.
