PML-N asked to implement power-sharing agreement

LAHORE:

Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan on Monday said the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was not implementing the power-sharing agreement with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) but was using tactics dilatory on the subject.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, the governor called for strengthening the information technology (IT) sector of the country, highlighting that the youth associated with this sector were bringing foreign exchange to the country.

The governor regretted that the written agreement between the PPP and the PML-N for power sharing was not being implemented. “The PML-N is only playing a committee game,” he said. “The PPP wants to maintain its alliance with the Government,” he added.

Recently, key PPP leaders, during a party meeting, attended by Governor Saleem Haider, conveyed to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari that the ruling PML-N had not made enough progress on the commitments it had made to the match.

The PPP meeting at Bilawal House in Karachi last week was also attended by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and the PPP leader Syed Naveed Qamar.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said the PML-N should think that it had no option but to implement the agreement with the PPP in letter and spirit. “If the system fails, it will not just be the loss of the PPP, but everyone will be affected.
