Lahore/karachi:
On Saturday a new war of words between Punjab and Sindh ministers broke out, while the tensions were applied to the controversial project of federal government channels, just one day after the president of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto -zardari, denounced the scheme as “unilateral.”
In statements to the media in Lahore, Punjab Minister of Information, Azma Bukhari, responded to Bilawal, saying that his Rally rhetoric did not offer a real solution.
“If you can make time to curl up with the federal government on provincial budgets,” he joked, “then they must also rise to address the channel problem.”
Bending, Bukhari said the project had already crossed the bureaucracy with the presidential consent.
“It is documented, it is signed,” he said, making it clear that the base had an official support.
Accusing the PPP of interpreting politics with water, called the “unfortunate” movement and questioned the choice of the Bilawal scenario.
“Bilawal Bhutto shouldn’t talk about water solutions while standing in the demonstrations,” he said. “Before making accusations, verify the facts. This is the policy of the channel,” he said.
Sindh ministers
Meanwhile, Sindh’s irrigation minister Jam Khan Shoro responded strongly to Bukhari’s comments regarding the controversial channel projects.
Speaking to journalists in Karachi, Shoro said: “We are not politicizing the problem. The people of Sindh and the PPP have a position: not for the controversial channels.
He said that Bilawal had warned the federal government that if the decision was not reversed, PPP would be with people, not with Shehbaz Sharif.
“Bukhari Azma does not even understand the ABC of the water problem. Instead of defending the project, the PML-N should be permanently buried,” he said.
Shoro said Sindh faced acute water shortage, not only for agriculture, but also to drink water. “Our lands are sterile, our worried farmers and our thirst for cattle.”
He urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reject the controversial channel projects directly and requested an immediate meeting of the Common Interests Council (CCI) to permanently complain the plan.
“If the prime minister does not end this project, the PPP will go to any extent with the people of Sindh to stop it. The entire Sindh irrigation system depends on the Indo River,” he said.
Similarly, reacting to the comments of the Punjab Minister, the Minister of Information Information, Transportation and Mass Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon questioned his understanding of the president’s constitutional powers.
“Has [Bokhari] read the constitution? Do you know how to read the Constitution? “Memon said sharply during a media talk in Karachi.
In addition, he questioned where he declared in the Constitution that the President had the authority to approve such development projects.
“If the federal government has sent it to the president for approval, then that was an incompetent step,” he added.
“It is not his mandate, we are tired of telling this 100 times,” said Memon, emphasizing that the federal government had not followed the correct procedural route.
“If you have the approval documents, then you should be able to bring the minutes manufactured from the meeting,” he continued.
Addressing the perception that the PPP had not publicly declared its intention to leave the government of the coalition if their concerns were not addressed, Memon replied: “When did we say that we announced it at the request of someone?”
“He [Bilawal] He said we are with the people, we are not with the Shehbaz government, “Memon said, citing the president of the PPP.
The green initiative of Pakistan, with an estimated cost of $ 3.3 billion, aims to build six channels to water 1.2 million acres of arid land in southern Punjab. However, the project has fulfilled the growing resistance, first of the Nationalist groups of Sindhi and now of the PPP itself.
Five of the channels are planned on the Indo River, while the sixth will be built along the Sutlej River, aimed at supplying around 4,120 cusecs of water to the Cholistan desert region in Punjab.
‘Chaos Party’
During his talk in Lahore, Bukhari also hit the political opponents, especially PTI, saying: “YouTubers and the chaos party cannot bear the relief of Pakistan. Those who had ties with IPP and electric companies are now making noise.”
He added that the Punjab government thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for containing the strong increase in electricity invoices.
“The good news season has begun, and those who once wrote letters to the IMF are those disturbed by this progress,” Bukhari said in an evening reference to PTI.
He accused PTI’s policies beyond trying to derail the IMF program and “turn the country into Sri Lanka,” a plan that said Shehbaz Sharif frustrated successfully.
Touring their weapons towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Bukhari said: “The massive corruption of KP is no secret, even their own leaders are telling the stories. YouTubers and the media cannot ignore the circus of ‘Chor Chor'”.
She questioned the statement of CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur of income from RS100 million while claiming that she spent RS750 million at the party. “Were these illegal funds for partying?” She asked.
She alleged damage worth RS8.66 billion to the forests in Chitral, and said that KP lacked schools and medications. “The records show that the KP Department of Health bought gloves worth RS20.8 million, however, the health hospitals of the district have not passed to hospitals. The health hospitals of the district without registration,” he said.
He also accused the KP government of mass corruption in the acquisition of wheat and claimed that RS2 billion were disbursed to party workers under the appearance of mosque’s funds.
She said that Gandapur’s position is in danger, since “her own party calls him corrupt.”
He rejected the notion that the internal committee of a party could audit the misuse of public funds, emphasizing only the NAB or relevant authorities can do so. “His own leaders, including Swati, Junaid Akbar and Asad Qaiser, are talking about the corruption of the other. Who will respond for it?” She asked.
Bukhari demanded the federal government account for RS600 billion for laws and order. “There is no CTD in KP. It does not issue threats: we are not afraid. First program where the money was before speaking NFC,” he said.
