Peshawar:
The Security Forces in the Superior District of Dir of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa frustrated a great terrorist attack by Afghanistan, killing at least five Fitna-Al-Khwarij terrorists in a joint operation of anti-terrorism on Sunday.
According to senior security officials, intelligence had warned a week before regrouping terrorists in the border regions, which led the police and security units to remain in maximum alert.
Acting on the information, the Department of Contractorism (CTD), the District Police, the Fast Response Force (RRF) and the Elite force launched a specific operation in the Dobook, Barikot, Salam Kot and Atandra areas under the leadership of the district police officer of the UPPER Distric (DPO) Syed Muhammad Bilal.
During the incursion of the morning, the forces surrounded the terrorists from multiple directions, establishing control points on the key routes to cut the escape and interrupt the movement. A command and control center was also established to coordinate the effort.
The most intense fire exchange took place in Salam Kot, where five terrorists were neutralized. The security personnel then recovered the body of one of them, while a search was underway to locate the remaining dead and ensure the area.
A civilian was killed in the crossfire, while seven police officers suffered minor injuries, who were transferred to the hospital and are reported that they are out of danger.
Local residents have actively supported security forces and praised the professionalism and resolution of the operation.
The Police General Inspector (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed to the express tribe that timely intelligence, with the help of technology, avoided a large -scale assault. “We had information that the terrorists planned to enter Dir. Our forces remained attentive and successfully frustrated their attempt,” he said.
In a statement, IGP Hameed praised the courage and commitment of the personnel involved. “Our officers and Jawanes are ready to defend the homeland at all times. His determination to defeat the dire terrorist designs is unwavering. We are proud of his courage.”
Meanwhile, security sweep continues in the region and search operations are underway to ensure that the area is completely clear from the terrorist presence.
