Roads were reopened after hours of operation as protesters were affected by crowd control measures.
Police early Wednesday dispersed a sit-in near the Adiala factory and jail checkpoint after clashes with protesters, deploying riot units and water cannons to clear the area.
Cold water, allegedly laced with chemicals, was used to push back protesters.
PTI founder Aleema Khan’s sisters Noreen Khan and Dr Uzma Khan, along with senior party leaders, arrived near Adiala Jail on Tuesday for a scheduled family meeting. However, even though Tuesday was designated for visits by family and lawyers, prison authorities informed Aleema Khan and senior PTI leaders around 4 pm that the meeting would not be allowed.
Warning that the family would not disperse if the meeting was denied, Aleema Khan said: “If they don’t allow the meeting, then don’t do it. We are sitting here peacefully. Today, we have even brought blankets with us.”
Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and Aleema Khan were trapped in the gush of water late at night. Police also detained protesters who had taken shelter in nearby streets, while some protesters reportedly responded by throwing stones.
Police said Adiala Road had been completely cleared, all barricades and containers had been removed and traffic had been restored. The authorities confirmed that the operation had concluded and the protesters had dispersed.
Protest organizers claimed that at least 15 workers were arrested late at night and alleged that Shaukat Basra suffered a broken finger due to police action. They also alleged that police deflated the tires of the vehicles of protest leaders, including Aleema Khan.

After the dispersion, Aleema Khan stated that the protesters would return on Tuesday, December 23 if their demands, particularly those regarding a requested meeting, were not met.
Security was beefed up at Adiala Jail, additional police contingents were deployed, water cannons were placed at gate number 5 and barricades erected at multiple entry points, including Gorakhpur and the factory check post. Markets in surrounding areas were closed, gasoline pumps were closed, and public and private schools were given a day off. PTI workers also started arriving near the jail amid heightened security.

Aleema Khan said the PTI founder’s demands were limited to constitutional principles. “The founder’s demand is the restoration of the Constitution, democracy and the rule of law,” he said, adding that Imran Khan had been imprisoned for more than two and a half years.
Questioning the repeated denial of meetings, he asked why the PTI founder’s family was not allowed to meet him in accordance with the law. “The government should tell us why the PTI founder’s family is not allowed to meet him,” he said.
