Police officers martyd in Shots in Dera Ismail Khan


Two police officers were martyred in a firearm attack by terrorists in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, police officers and government officials said Wednesday.

According to the police, a terrorist died and two were injured in a retaliation fire. A Kalashnikov rifle was recovered along with ammunition by the murdered militant.

DSP Kulachi Inam Khan confirmed that the officers were heading to the city to buy house groceries when armed men opened fire. Police responded quickly and cordoned off the area.

A joint search operation of the Department of Counter -Terrorism (CTD) and the District Police in the area are currently being carried out.

Funeral sentences were offered by martyred staff at the Line Police headquarters, attended by police officers and CTD.

In a statement issued by the governor’s chamber, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi firmly condemned the attack and paid tribute to fallen officers. He extended sincere condolences to the afflicted families and prayed for the elevation of the rows of the martyrs.

“The sacrifices of police martyrs for peace and security will not be in vain,” said Governor Kundi. He added that the police have made immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and that the province shares the pain of the families of the victims.

In recent months, violence has intensified in parts of KP. Last month, a police operation in the Lakki Marwat Kot Cashmir area left three alleged militants and a dead police officer.

In a separate incident in May, two police officers died and one injured when the armed assailants attacked a check post in Bannu, using explosives to violate the door, according to the CTD.
