Police under scrutiny for misuse of public services

Rawalpindi:

High police officers have taken a strict notice about the misuse of electricity and government telephones in the police offices and stations, implementing new measures to stop unnecessary expense.

The unauthorized use of air conditioners and electric heating has been prohibited, with the immediate ordering ordered for air conditioners installed in non -authorized officers.

To enforce these directives, the city police officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Khalid Hamdani, has issued two separate letters to SSP operations, divisional and subdivisional officers, Sho and DSP headquarters. The first letter, regarding the consumption of electricity, highlights that officers and staff often leave appliances, lights and heaters lit, which leads to a waste of unnecessary electricity and inflated invoices. Police stations and offices have received instructions to stop using electric heater immediately, and unauthorized air conditioners must be withdrawn without delay.

The second letter addresses excessive government telephone numbers. It was observed that many police offices, stations and control points were generating high telephone invoices due to long -term calls and mobile calls, often without adequate justification. In addition, the telephone records that detail the official use have not been maintained, creating audit objections.

All police offices and stations must maintain a telephone record and send monthly use reports. Any misuse will be strictly monitored, and breach will result in departmental action against responsible officials. In cases of excessive billing, the deductions will be carried out directly from the salaries of the declared guilty of misuse.

The CPO emphasized that these measures aim to guarantee the responsibility and responsible use of government resources within the police force.
