Islamabad:
The health authorities have progressed in the surveillance of the polyomyelitis virus, collecting wastewater samples from nine districts. Of these, seven districts have tested positive for type 1 poliovirus, including Gwadar, Quetta, South Waziristan, Rawalpindi, Larkana and Mirpurkhas.
However, the samples of Pishin and Lahore were declared free of polyomyelitis.
A total of 45 million children had been vaccinated during three national polio campaigns, with more than 400,000 polyomyelitis workers, including 225,000 women, dedicated to effort.
