Polygon, GSR Katana Release Network Tackle Defi Fragmentation

Katana, a new decentralized finance block chain (defi) incubated by the heavyweights of the Polygon and GSR industry, shared on Wednesday that its private netnet has left live.

The new layer of layer 2 will unify “all liquidity in a set of protocols and will collect a performance of all potential sources,” the team shared in a press release sent to Coindesk. Katana’s goal is to “feed a self -sufficient defi engine for long -term growth,” he said.

Marc Bironon, the Polygon Labs CEO, told Coindesk that Katana arose to address the fragmentation of the DEFI, where digital assets are distributed in several applications and ecosystems, which makes certain types of investment cumbersome.

Katana was built with Agglayer: Polygon’s platform to build interoperable blockchains. “One of the things we want is a super deep liquidity center in the aglayer, so that each chain can take advantage of that,” Bairon said. “When you look at Crypto, what you realize is that there is not really a chain that is built very well to have a deep liquidity.”

Katana aims to improve Blockchain liquidity, including loans, trade and performance performance strategies, when integrating with popular applications such as sushi, an important decentralized exchange and Morpho, an ecosystem of popular decentralized loans.

Polygon Labs, the team behind the Layer-2 network, helped design the chain, while GSR, the creator of cryptocurrencies, advised the user’s experience and is lending liquidity to help take off the platform. “We are providing the liquidity in the chain, or ‘fat’, to ensure that people can use the chain the first day,” said Jakob Palmstierna, president of GSR.

Currently, Katana is open to a limited user group. It includes a phase prior to the deposit that allows users to park their ETH, USDC, USDT and WBTC to have the opportunity to win Kat Tokens, the new government token and network utility.

Although the activity is limited at this private stage, early deposits are being encouraged through a Lootbox style rewards system. Katana’s problem is expected to arrive at the end of June.
