Polyvirus paralyzes child in Bannu


Islamabad:

In a last case of Poliovirus, a 33 -month -old boy has been paralyzed in the Bannu district, raising the recount of Pakistan polyomyelitis for 12 during the year.

According to the regional reference laboratory for the eradication of polyomyelitis in the Nih Islamabad, the recent case of the Shamsikhel Union Council, District Bannu, is the sixth case of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa polyomyelitis this year.

Up to 12 cases of poliovirus have been informed in 2025, including six of KP, four of Sindh and one from Punjab and GB.

While the eradication efforts of polyomyelitis continue throughout the country, the southern districts of KP are still areas of concern.
