- TERMASTER D4 SSD BODY Mass storage and extreme data transfer at speed up to 40 Gbps
- Designed for silence, this SSD remains even when it is under the full creative workflow load
- With the USB4 and NVME support, it rivals internal storage in speed and reliability
Terramaster has introduced the D4 SSD, a direct storage device (DAS) of 4 bays that promises to combine ultra fast speeds with a portable design.
Built to accommodate up to four NVME M.2 units, the D4 admits a maximum capacity of 32TB, up to 40 Gbps of data transfer bandwidth, and read/write speeds of up to 3224 MB/s when they are configured as RAID 0 through the utility of macOS disc.
However, it achieves this only in ideal conditions with upper level units such as the Samsung 990 Pro. In single -disk operations, reading speeds decrease to approximately 1608 Mb/s, which is more in line with what many expect from the high -end external units.
The D4 SSD is barely larger than an Apple Mac Mini, but houses four high -performance SSDs.
Its compact design, together with an active convection cooling system that has a second generation temperature controlled fan and four internal heat sensors, ensures stable performance during heavy workloads.
Noise levels fall to 19DB in an inactive mode, maintaining it practically silent, which is important for audio-sensible environments such as the Suites edition.
Its compatibility with input adapters of 12–20 V allows you to share power bricks with laptops and common monitors, reducing the need for additional accessories during the trip.
Terramaster’s decision to support USB 4 means broad compatibility between the USB protocols of Thunderbolt and Legacy.
He says that this device is optimized for media professionals and aims to coincide with NVME internal storage performance, either in 8K image edition or expanding a macOS starting unit.
It also admits automatic backup tools for Windows and mobile platforms and is perfectly integrated with Macs Time Machine.
This flexibility level could give it an advantage over the best portable hard drive options, but only for those who need advanced performance.
While the D4 SSD presents an attractive profile for its planned audience, it is not the only compact device with high storage potential.
The GMKtec Nucbox G9 mini PC, for example, functions as a complete NAS system at a lower price.
Although it cannot reach the speeds of almost 40 Gbps of the D4, nor is it a DAS, it includes broader capabilities such as networks, calculation power and a more integrated interface for house laboratories or small businesses.
The D4 SSD extends to Horcajadas between high -end comfort and the niche of excess exaggeration. It could be the best external SSD for professionals who need rapid, reliable and compact storage, but the most casual users or those with strictest budgets may consider alternatives.
This device is available on the official website of Terramaster and Amazon for $ 299.99.
