The Power Division spokesman, Zafaryab Khan, has approached the rumors surrounding changes in electric tariffs, stating that the Federal Government will implement the recently announced relief in energy prices.
In an interview with the application, Zafaryab Khan dismissed reports on changes in electricity rates, calling them without foundation and contradictory. He added that certain elements deliberately disseminated false information about electricity rates and technical details, distorting the facts.
“These reports misrepresent the official position of the government and aim to create confusion among the public,” he said.
The spokesman emphasized that the announcement of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding a reduction in electricity rates is necessary, and its implementation will continue as planned.
Zafaryab Khan said that, in the light of the next summer season, the prime minister had ordered immediate measures to relieve load for consumers. After the announcement of the Prime Minister, Neprión held a public hearing on April 4 to implement the help package without delay.
He also confirmed that the federal cabinet had already approved the aid package, which will be applied to all energy distribution companies throughout the country.
The spokesman attributed the achievement of this relief to months of negotiations, including conversations with independent energy producers (IPP) to reduce tariffs.
He also declared that discussions about rates categories are unnecessary at this stage, since relief is now reaching the public. “The government deserves credit for this timely intervention,” he concluded.
