PPP ends the preparations for April 18 Hyderabad Rally against the Indus River projects

The Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP) has finished agreements for a large public meeting at Hattri Ground, Hyderabad, April 18. The preparations were reviewed during a key meeting chaired by the leader of PPP, Faryal Talpur, in his residence, according to a statement issued by the party.

During the meeting, the party leaders reviewed the detailed logistics and administrative preparations for the Hyderabat division rally, which is expected to attract a large number of participants. It was confirmed that the demonstration will begin at 6 pm on April 18, under the leadership of the president of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Going to the attendees, Talpur described the event as a “public referendum” against development projects controversial in the Indo River. He reiterated the PPP position firm against any attempt to divert the waters of the river, calling the Indo the “Sindh life line.”

“If water from the Indo River is deviated, Sindh will become sterile,” he warned. “We reject any form of engineering in the river and demand that the distribution of water be carried out transparently, according to the 1991 agreement.”

Tapur emphasized that the people of Sindh, particularly youth, joins President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari by defending the water rights of the province.

The Meeting was attenthed by A Number of prominent party leaders, including Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, PPP Central Leader Makhdoom Jamil-Uz-Zaman, PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Interior Minister Zia-ul Minister Ali Hassan Zardari and Muhammad Ali Malkani, and Special Assistant Qasim Naveed Qamar. Other notable attendees included Sohail Anwar Sial, Rafiq Ahmed Jamali, Shafqat Shah Sherazi, Riaz Shah Sherazi, Sikandar Shoro, Pir Mujerb and Rawal Sharjeel Memon.
