The PPP will observe the 46th anniversary of the death of the founder of the party, the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB), with a public concentration in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on Friday (today), which will be approached by President Bilawal Bhutto Zari.
The general secretary of PPP Sindh and special assistant of the principal minister, Waqar Mehdi, told The Express PAkGazette on Thursday that President Asif Ali Zardari would not go to the public meeting due to poor health.
Mehdi said that the preparations for the anniversary had ended, since the caravans of people from all over the country had begun to reach Garhi Khuda Bakhsh. Strict security arrangements for the anniversary had also been made.
A series of anniversary events will begin in the morning with the recitation of the Sacred Koran and Fateha. This will be followed by Naat Khawani and a Mushaira. The public meeting will begin at 5 PM, starting with speeches from several party leaders and concluding with Bilawal’s speech.
On the anniversary, Bilawal and Zardari paid tributes rich to the late founder of the party and pledged to continue their mission of making Pakistan a developed, independent and friendly country with people.
In their separate messages, they said that Shaheed Bhutto revolutionized the economy, agriculture and the country’s industrial sector, which empowers the working class. They added that Zab gave Pakistan a progressive and unanimous constitution and strengthened the country’s defense with nuclear technology.
