President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif requested unity beyond the personal divisions and interests for a prosperous Pakistan, since the country celebrates its 78th Independence Day today.
President Zardari transmitted his congratulations to the people, highlighting the importance of national cohesion and the need for sustained efforts towards the welfare of the country.
He pointed out that the success in Marka-E-HAQ and Operation Bunyan-Mou-Marsosos reflected the unwavering national will and the country’s unity of purpose. This victory, he added, has increased public confidence, restored faith in national institutions and raised Pakistan’s position on the global stage.
Zardari also expressed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir illegally, reiterating the firm diplomatic, moral and political support of Pakistan until his right to self -determination is achieved.
His message was broadly transmitted by the state media and published it again by Pakistani diplomatic missions abroad, underlining the importance of the day for the diaspora.
Similarly, Prime Minister Shehbaz extended the “sincere congratulations” to the nation and directed the flag accommodation ceremony on the Pakistan monument in Islamabad. In his official message of Independence Day, he stressed unity and collective dedication to the development of Pakistan.

The parliamentary leaders joined the celebrations, with the president of the Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani issuing a statement through the Senate office in X, urging the nation to join in one purpose and commit to progress.
He said that the sacrifices of the elderly and leaders will always continue to be a guide light, and added that Pakistan is the fruit fruit of Allama Iqbal and the leadership of Quaid-E-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Pakistan International Airlines celebrated celebrations in flight on its network to commemorate the 78th Independence Day.
According to the food and reports of the social networks of PIA, the crew joined the passengers in ceremonies of cake, national songs on board were played and the children traveling on flights received chocolates as part of the festivities.
