President, PM urges Nation to follow the teachings of Iqbal

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have urged the nation to follow the teachings and thoughts of Allama Muhammad Iqbal so that Pakistan is a country that delivers social and economic justice to all its citizens.

In a message on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Allama Iqbal on April 21, the president said: “Today we are observing the anniversary of the death of Poet of the East and thinker of Pakistan Allama Muhammad Iqbal.”

“Today we pay tribute to their political and intellectual contributions,” he added.

He said: “The thoughts, philosophy and poetry of Allama Iqbal are a lighthouse of light for us, and we need to follow Iqbal’s message in our individual capacity and national life.”

Allama Iqbal was not only a poet, but also a thinker and reformer who felt the anguish of the fall of the Islamic Ummah and used his thoughts and verses as a means to wake up the UMMAH, he continued.

The president said that the poetry of IQBAL revolved around the concepts of self -managing, reform, divine love, freedom of thought and rebirth of the UMMAH.

According to IQBAL, the salvation of the Muslim Umma was not only in political freedom, but was also attainable through intellectual and spiritual awakening, he added.

He said that the poet’s philosopher called Muslims towards knowledge, wisdom, self -confidence and the message of true religion.

The president said that Allama Iqbal’s role was not only limited to his thoughts and poetry, but also played a fundamental role in the political direction of Muslims in the subcontinent.

He pointed out that Allama Iqbal was an active leader of the All India Muslim League and in his speech in Allahabad in 1930 presented the concept of a separate state for the Muslims of the subcontinent.

“His political thinking reflects the separate identity of Muslims,” ​​he said.

“Today we face numerous social, economic and intellectual challenges, so we must adopt the teachings of Iqbal as a lighthouse of light.”

“Let’s promote that we will follow Allama’s teachings and thoughts and we will make Pakistan a country where all citizens have equal opportunities for social and economic justice and progress,” he added.

Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asked the nation to embrace the principles of Allama Iqbal in individual and collective lives to build Pakistan as a strong, sovereign and developed country.

“Today, on his anniversary of death, we pay tribute to the ideological builder of Pakistan, great thinker and poet of Dr. Allama East Muhammad Iqbal,” said Prime Minister in a statement.

Iqbal was not only a poet, but he was a leader with a vision of the future that presented the concept of a separate country for the subcontinent Muslims, he added.

Shehbaz said that the philosophy of IQBAL’s self-managed and her poetry not only provided an ideological basis for Pakistan’s movement, but also gave a new spirit in the Muslims of the subcontinent of Indo-Pakistan.

The prime minister said that Allama Iqbal was the first thinker who, in his 1930 speech in Allahabad, presented a clear concept of a separate state for the subcontinent Muslims.
