President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday on the occasion of the Chinese spring festival and the arrival of the year of the snake.
In his message, President Zardari expressed his strong commitment to further strengthen the long data relationship between Pakistan and China. He transmitted his desire to meet with President XI in Beijing to discuss the improvement of bilateral cooperation.
The president recognized the resistance of the two nations as strategic cooperative partners for all climate. He highlighted the tireless efforts of successive leaders in both countries that have contributed to the growth of their unique and solid association.
President Zardari reaffirmed the unwavering support of Pakistan for China’s policy, qualifying it as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. He also deeply thanks President XI for his leadership in the progress of the Chinese-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the strengthening of bilateral relations.
The president praised China’s progress meaning in 2024 in several sectors and reiterated his belief in the lasting and developed friendship between the two nations. He concluded wishing President XI good health and prosperity for both him and the Chinese.
The Chinese spring festival, which marks the beginning of a new lunar year, began on January 29, 2025, and is traditionally seen as a moment of renewal and celebration.
Yesterday, Sindh’s Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar advised Chinese citizens who asked the SENDH (SHC) Superior Court against the alleged police harassment that adhered to the standard operational procedures (SOP) established to address such concerns.
In statements to the media on Monday, Lanjar emphasized that Chinese citizens should channel their complaints through the Chinese consulate or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the protocols designed jointly by the government of Sindh and the Chinese consulate.
“These petitioners do not have a direct investment in Pakistan, or their request is legally solid,” said the minister. He added that he had instructed the inspector general police (IG) to form a team to interact with the Chinese consul in Karachi to address the problem.
Lanjar reiterated the respect of the Sindh government for Chinese citizens, but stressed the importance of adhering to official procedures. “We greatly value our Chinese partners, but they must follow the SOP established by the Government in collaboration with the Chinese authorities,” he said.
The minister also announced plans to meet with the Chinese consul to issue an official statement and resolve concerns in a friendly way.
