Karachi: President Asif Ali Zardari has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been placed in isolation, his doctor, Dr. As Hussain, confirmed on Wednesday.
Talking with Geographical newsDr. Hussain said the president was receiving medical care from specialists in infectious diseases in a private hospital.
“Due to their condition, all meetings with the president have been strictly prohibited,” he added.
In addition, he said that President Zardari was being closely monitored and multiple tests have been carried out to evaluate his state of health. “The medical team is ensuring 24 -hour observation to handle their condition effectively,” he added.
President Zardari was transferred to a private hospital in Karachi from Nawabshah, after experiencing health problems.
Separately, Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon refuted reports related to Zarari’s health and said his health was improving.
In a statement, Memon said the reports that suggest that President Zardari was being transferred to Dubai to receive medical treatment were not true and that the latter would soon recover completely.
Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had asked about the health of President Zardari through a phone call.
The prime minister prayed for the early recovery of the president, added that the prayers of the entire nation were with the president.
Meanwhile, the governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, also contacted President Zardari, Dr. As Hussain, to ask about the health of the Head of State and wish him the best.
